The list of similarities between Orkut and Usenet is growing. A nice little troll community has formed (though amazingly, much of their bile remains confined to their little moderated treehouse group as yet).
I’m unpleasantly reminded of myself in early college, making fun of people who just took stuff soooo seriously. Now I’m on the other side of that, actually taking some stuff seriously, and being ridiculed for it.
Hell, I’m a Discordian and a Kibologist, among other things, so I’m no stranger to making authoritarians and humorless idiots look bad — I love it! I guess I just wish I didn’t smell like a humorless idiot to these people, because they are reminding me of the unpleasantnesses of Usenet, which is not a fond memory. However, not actually being a humorless idiot is some consolation. (Whoops, maybe I’m an authoritarian! Dammit!)
