I got my hair cut at Louie’s today, the barbershop next door to Marcello’s Pizza on Castro Street. The fact that these two businesses are next door to each other was extremely gratifying to me, since I had just wolfed down two pesto-and-mushroom slices before waltzing into Louie’s and being called to the chair within about 45 seconds.
I got a professional haircut in what seemed like no more than 15 minutes. He even shaved my ear hair off, which was really strange — no barber has ever done that for me before, which is probably because the last time a barber cut my hair was in 1998. My sweaty hair and goofy banter posed the ultra-professional barber no trouble whatsoever. Though my quest for sunglasses failed miserably (I was so desperate I almost entered a “Sunglass Hut”) I am happy to report that the hair is in good working order.
