Every so often I poke my head out of my hole and see if the world has returned to some state I might be willing to regard as somewhat normal.
Bush against gay marriage: “Marriage is the most enduring and important human institution, honored and encouraged in all cultures and by every religious faith.” Translation: Gays are not human. Religion is the sole source of all wisdom (especially if by ‘religion’ you mean Christianity).
How about our foreign affairs?
Russian diplomats killed, abducted in Iraq: “At least 439 foreigners have been kidnapped in Iraq since the US-led invasion three years ago… Russia opposed the US-led invasion of Iraq, has no troops here but maintains a diplomatic presence in Iraq.” Translation: Things are batshit out of control in Iraq, have been for a long time, and show no signs of getting better.
What about Europe?
Czech Republic turns right: “promising tax and bureaucracy cuts” Translation: Cut social services, privatize, split middle class and strand the poor. Just like our healthy neighbor Germany! (Economic bubble because of the World Cup? Nonsense!)
Situation normal — all fucked up. I’m going to go live in a cave and eat junk food for the rest of my life.
